Featured in BeadStyle November 2011

Last week I got an email from Canada saying that she was interested in my earrings that was featured in Beadstyle Magazine.  I was really surprised and immediately went online to see if it was real.... and when I clicked here .... there it was .... it was said that my jewelries were featured on page 10 in the Reader Gallery !!
I felt sooo happy and I couldn't wait to get the magazine.

And last night my husband surprised me with these 2 copies of the magazines. "They only got 2 copies so I bought everything, just in case... " he said with his big smile.

I feel so blessed to have a husband like him... he is my NUMBER ONE supporter. This achievement would not have happened without his help and support. I love you so much .... *kiss kiss*

Sea Shell Bangle in glamor style

This bangle was commissioned by a young lady for her special occassion. She was fascinated with my sea-shell-bangle and wanted to make a more glamorous  bangle with more filigrees and lots of crystals.

So here it was.... I was so happy with the out come, it looked very beautiful .

The idea of using three shell pearls was the same as the 'old' Sea Shell Bangle but using wire stitching to stitched all pearls and crystals around them really made a big different. And adding more filigree also made it looked soooo glamorous.
I hope she will like it as much as I do ... if she doesn't I wouldn't mind keeping it for myself ... =D

TITANIUM DRUZY - a filigree brooch

Often when I browsed on the internet, titanium druzy were bound in a simple bezel with silver or gold. Or when using wire work, it was only a simple bezel with a few swirls added.

When I saw this titanium druzy I was so amazed by its beauty... then when I put it in my hands, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it. I wanted to make a brooch with lots of swirls and filigrees. And I deliberately used gun metal colored wire so the titanium druzy can stand out against the dark wire. Wire stitching technique were used for the crystals around the stone.

Once completed, this brooch was more beautiful than what I had visioned ... and I really love it.
It looks so vintage and rich with details... I think this is yet my best piece so far... =)

Thank you so much for looking.....

GREEN DROP BROOCH ( for kebaya )

It's been almost a month since my last post. Since then I made a few pieces but I haven't got time to take their pictures. And this is one of them....
This was the first time I made a two tier brooch... because when I saw these colored druzy, I had a feeling that they belong together. So I came up with the idea of two tier brooch.

The upper part was made with wire stitching surrounded by filigrees and I used czech fire polished crystal together with swarovski crystal to enhance the green color of the druzy.
On the lower part I deliberately keep it simple to give the upper part as the focus point.

I really love this brooch, the size is not too big (10 x 15,5 cm ) and the color is so fresh...
I plan to make a pair of earring to match but still hesitate whether to make a stud or a chandelier. Personally, I love chandeliers ..... =)
what about you?

And a bangle to match ....

Do you remember my purple jewelry set? Yup, this one http://beautyndbeads.blogspot.com/2011/03/this-is-for-purple-lovers.html
A pretty lady bought that set and she asked me to make matching bangle to complete the set.
Sooo, here it is.... very pretty isn't it?

When she got it, she said that she loved it... she was so thankfull and said that I made her a one happy customer... But of course, the pleasure is mine.... =)

AYUDHIA IN TURQUOISE

These set were inspired by ayudhia bangle, a tutorial by borneo pahlevi, a talented jewelry designer from my country, Indonesia.
He started doing wire work a bit later than me but now he already made more tutorial than me in www.jewelrylessons.com ... that's how good he is .... =)

The necklace was made with the same principle with the bangle. I only made each piece a bit longer (about 10 cm each) so it could nicely formed as necklace.

Both Turqoise in the necklace and bangle were netted, not woven as shown in the tutorial.
I chose to make a simple bezel for both cabochon to enhance the intricate wire woven on the left and the right side of the cabochon.

I really love the combination of turqoise and copper wire ... I hope you do too .....
Thank you for looking ....

Rose vitrail lite crystal - a jewelry set

Among my beads collection, this rivoli from swarovski crystal belonged to the category of special beads because of their beautiful color.
I was always waiting for the perfect project to use for this special bead and I when I drew this brooch/pendant, I thought the rose vitrail lite would be a perfect bead to use as the vocal point.

And I think I was right.... as you can see bound with prong and surrounded by different color of crystals and silver filigree... it really create a beautiful brooch/pendant.

To complete the set, I also made a pair of earrings. As I love chandelier earrings so much, maybe I over did the swirls.... =)
But I thought, that beautiful brooch/pendant needed an earrings that were equally beautiful, right? With 8 cm earrings dangling from your earlobe in sparkling crystals, they were really a match with each other.

Thank you for looking..... (^0^)

This is for purple lovers .....

Yup, I am a purple lovers too ... I have to say that I have quite a number of amethyst in different sizes in my collection ... and these faceted amethyst were among the best beads that I have.

Both necklace and earrings were made with wire stitching using 10 mm faceted amethyst surrounded by czech fire polished crystal beads.
I think they looked awesome !! I really really love it =)

ANTIQUE MING PORCELAIN - a replica

This piece was comissioned by Risma ... she fell in love with the first Antique Ming Porcelain Pendant and asked me to make one for her.

At glance this piece looked the same as the original piece, but her request was that it could be worn as pendant and brooch, so I added some filigree close to the oval cabochon to attached the pin and also some filigree on the bottom part to balanced it.

I really love the out come. I think this piece is better than the original piece... what do you think?

SOMETHING OLD AND SOMETHING BLUE

It started from a Challenge that was held by our Wirework Community.
The theme was "New piece from (good) Old memories" which means we had to create something new from an old object that has special memories.

This crystal brooch had a long history.... Years ago, long before I knew wire jewelry making, I went on a tour to Jablonec in the Czech Republic, the center of crystal glass beadmaking.
I visited several places where they produced beautiful glass beads with different techniques like wound, blown or drawn of molded. At that time I was more interested on the finished product, so I bought this brooch among other things.
Later on this brooch became my favorit jewelry because of its simple design and it can be worn with any color of clothes.

Before this challenge, I have forgotten about this brooch. I found it among my keepsake box to look for ideas to enter the challenge. Although one of the beads was lost but I was so happy that I found it again.... =)
I "mutilated" an old earring to replace the lost bead... luckily it has the same size. The original size of the brooch is 3.5 x 3 cm plus the dangling charm 2 x 1.5 cm.

Now with its new surrounding filigree ornament, the size becomes 9 x 8 cm excluding the charm.
I think this brooch is transformed from a simple beauty into a more classic and magnificent beauty and certainly it will become my favorit brooch again .... =)
Although I didn't win, I have to thank my friend Gaby.... if not for her Challenge, this brooch will remain forgotten and stored in the box ... thanks again ... *hugs*

FILIGREE CLASP

When you have a string of shell pearls as big (16x20 mm) and as beautifull as these, all you need was a simple filigree clasp to compliment their classic beauty.

And voilaaaa..... very beautiful, aren't they? I really love it.... =)

COPPER CRYSTAL

At a glance this brooch looked like my previous brooch in http://beautyndbeads.blogspot.com/2010/03/big-and-beautiful.html maybe because of the shape of the frame.
But if you look closer the filigree is different, this one was made with wire stitching. It looked more full and rich compare to ordinary filigree.

I chose copper wire to compliment the tear drop copper crystal and green fire polished crystal beads as an accent among the copper fire crystal beads.
As you can see the result was beautiful.

In fact in reality, this BIG brooch (10 x 10 cm) is certainly more beautiful .....

IMPERIAL JASPER - brooch for kebaya

I bought the Imperial Jasper cabochon from online store, and I bought it simply because I really liked the color. Maybe because it's pink, it looked so girly... that's why I decided to make it into a brooch for kebaya. I imagine you could wear it with white of soft pink embroidery kebaya... hmm it should be stunning... I'll bet it's a show stopper to wear !!

And since I made it with a bail, it cold be also worn with a choker and your little black dress... I think you are ready for Valentine's Day .... =))

The beads around the cabochon was rose quartz and crystals . With the size of 9,5 x 10 cm I'm sure all eyes will turn on you if you wear it.

My first piece in 2011

Today February is officially started, and I haven't posted a single piece of jewelry. Actually I have made several pieces through out January and this was my first piece that I made.
As you can see, I still used wire stitching for these pieces.

This piece is a brooch and can be use as a pendant. I used natural druzy surrounded with crystal beads, the size is about 10 x 8 cm.

And I also made a matching earrings

They really looked great together.... =)
